So Friday night, we went to see 2012. The Boog liked it. I agree with the assessment of most of the people I know; it's disaster porn, no real science, or plot, but cool special effects, Indiana-Jones type action sequences, and some very amusing moments. It had some real Poseidon/Titanic moments. It was one of those movies that made you laugh at points where the director had no intention of if being funny.

The only thing that was mildly annoying is that our show of 2012 was evidently the designated overflow show for the gaggles of teenagers who got shut out of the sold-out shows of the new Twilight movie. And they were not particularly well behaved teenagers, either. Grrrrr.

Saturday was the Shire business meeting. I managed to avoid volunteering to autocrat Sommer Draw by virtue of the fact that I volunteered to plan and run an archery and throw weapons event in May. We've been bandying around an archery/tw event for a while now, and now that we have Shire targets for both, we can actually do this thing. We are going to try for Saturday, May 1, which at least won't put us in direct conflict with the Carolingia May Day event, which is on Sunday, May 2, which has a focus on fencing and heavy list. So I'm hoping it's different enough that we might still get some out of Shire folks. I'm also going to try to hold it in Ayer, which might also draw some Stonemarche and Bergental folks. Now all I have to do is actually get the site I want.

This morning we went and picked up the wreaths that B's troop is selling. He actually managed to sell over his quota this year thanks to M selling a bunch to his co-workers. I've got some projects I've got to do around the condo before we have everyone over for Turkey Day. Luckily, I've only got two days of going into the office this week. Wednesday, I'm working at home, and knocking off early. Tuesday night, I'll probably go do my shopping for Turkey Day dinner, that will give the turkey a full day in the fridge to thaw. I'm just hoping I can find a good alternative to make for M. I'm hoping to find a goose, but a duck or a cornish hen would be good, too.

Menu for Turkey Day:
turkey (of course)
stuffing
goose/duck/cornish hen
mashed potatoes
gravy
candied yams
baked corn casserole
green bean casserole
peas
cranberry sauce
crescent rolls
beets (maybe...I'm the only one who eats them)
pumpkin cheesecake
apple crisp
