danagryphon: (Mal Misbehave)
Our weekend alone with nothing to do at the beginning of November, is, I fear, going to be the last free weekend we have for a while. This past weekend was a pack meeting, wherein E got a $50 gift card for Wallyworld from our area Boy Scout Council for selling popcorn. So bright and early Saturday, we were off to Wallyworld for him to get a scooter, which he has been jonesing for, well, it seems like forever. Of course, Saturday was rainy all day, so even when we got home, he was unable to take said scooter outside to ride. But luckily for my sanity, Sunday's weather improved.

Saturday evening, M's friend L came over, and while I puttered around the house getting caught up on projects, they went off to go shooting. Unfortunately, neither of them checked the hours on the ranges in Acton or Clinton, and both were closed. But L stayed for dinner and home-baked apple pie, then watched Knowing.

Sunday, M and B went off to help with the troop's food drive for the local food pantry, while E and I met [livejournal.com profile] chrystie69 at the Cloak and Dagger open house. I bought some trim, and a pirate bandana for E. Then [livejournal.com profile] chrystie69 and her brother came back to the condo for a while to hang out. We made some plans for Turkey Day, which I am hosting again. I actually love making big holiday dinners. This year, I'm going to try making both a turkey and a small goose for M, who doesn't like turkey. And the rest of the traditional foods. In addition to [livejournal.com profile] chrystie69 and her brother, we will also be hosting L, and I will have the boys, so it will be an interesting time.

After M and B got home, I made meatloaf for dinner, and then the boys and I sat down to watch The Prisoner. B quickly decided he wasn't really interested, and I got interrupted by phone calls and then had to get the boys to bed before the first hour was up. As a result, I couldn't really follow the plot, and decided to give up for now and wait until I have the whole thing recorded and watch it all in one go, maybe over the weekend. One good thing is that it freed me up last night to watch House instead, which was made of awesome.

Tonight, E has a den meeting, tomorrow night, B has troop meeting, and Thursday is a rally at the school to support the Middle School principal who is getting forced out, despite the fact that the parents, staff, and students all think he walks on water, and under his tenure, the school won a national award. Hmmph. Since this will affect E over the next 3 years, I think I might go to the rally.

Oh yeah, and it's wreath time again for B's troop. Anyone want to buy a wreath? And I get the popcorn order tonight, so if you bought popcorn, I will try to deliver it this weekend (that means you, Shire folks!), when we have the Shire business and planning meeting.

The day after T-day, we will be going up to M's brother's house to see his parents, too. Then the weekend after that is Dual Yule in Springfield. Second weekend in Dec is Shire Yule, 3rd weekend is Dec pack meeting and Troop game night, then it is school vacation and a visit down to PA. It looks like we will get New Years eve and weekend to ourselves, hopefully with some serious skiing. January has 2 big SCA events, 2 backlog scroll assignments, and a super sekrit project. Plus scouting stuff, as E prepares to cross over to Boy Scouts in February. And I'm going to try to teach again at Bergental's Schola (on my bday!), cooking a feast for Shire Hafla (my first feast!), and thinking about volunteering to autocrat Sommer Draw in June.

*Sigh* Yeah, I'm nuts.
