In honor of the fact that researchers have discovered that bisexuals really do exist. (Well, duh! Thanks, guys!) And in other news, they also discovered that water is wet.

Some great lines I've seen in the blogosphere this morning in response to New York passing marriage equality yesterday:

Talking about the National Organization for Marriage (a lying bunch of carpet-bagging scum who swoop into any state with marriage equality legislation on the docket and pour millions into trying to defeat it) and their total ineffectiveness in NY: "NOM is circling the toilet like the load of crap it is."

Referencing the season finale of Glee, set in NYC: "Psssst. Religious Right? When the hottest, most-popular, top-rated teen show on American TV is gayer than Johnny Weir taking Adam Lambert to a Lady Gaga concert, you've already lost."

NY is a huge victory for marriage equality. On the one hand, it's weird, because we've had marriage equality in MA for 8 years now, and it's felt a little like we live on an island of sanity while the rest of the country is some weird surreal parody of how things should be. But that island is slowly growing. Eight years ago, we were the first. But in eight more years (or sooner!) hopefully people everywhere in this country will look back on this time and say "My, what a stupid fuss that was. What was the big deal again?"

Oh, and Keith Olbermann is back. He's got a new show, with the exact same name, in the exact same time slot, on Current TV (SUCK IT, MSNBC). And Thursday night, he did one of his fabulous special comments before the NY vote. Welcome back, Keith!

The first same-sex couple has been named as Baronial heirs to the Barony of Gyldenholt (Orange County, CA). If all goes well, Master Giles and Master Giuseppe will be invested as Baron Giles and Baron Giuseppe next summer.

Vivant! Not to mention, Woohoo!

The courage it takes to be willing to start over in another branch of the service is a beautiful thing. This is my hero.

"The president does oppose same-sex marriage, but he supports equality for gay and lesbian couples, and benefits and other issues, and that has been effectuated in federal agencies under his control,"

Dear Mr. President,

No, you cannot OPPOSE same-sex marriage but support EQUALITY for gays and lesbians. Civil union =/= marriage. Separate is NEVER equal. Why is that so hard for you to understand?

Lets try a few word substitutions and see if that makes it any clearer.

"The president does oppose interracial marriage, but he supports equality for interracial couples"
"The president does oppose abolition of slavery, but he supports equality for African-Americans"
"The president does oppose women's suffrage, but he supports equality for women"

Seriously, Dude, are you TRYING to completely alienate the people who elected you?

No love,

Me

...my nephew's love for The Golden Girls. (To me, this should have been the ultimate tipoff to my sister, when he kept asking for season after season of The Golden Girls for Christmas and birthdays. But denial can be a powerful thing.) Too bad NJ doesn't get it.
